Coach Johnny's path in the game started early, starring in baseball, football, and basketball in high school before becoming a top middle infielder at American River College. That performance earned him a baseball scholarship to Abilene Christian University, where he hit .448 and picked up multiple honors. After his playing days, he moved into coaching at American River College and later earned his Master's in Kinesiology from St. Mary's College. When his daughter fell in love with softball, Johnny founded USA Premier in 2020 — a program he's grown from a single 14U team into a full 14U–18U pipeline. More than fifty of his players have gone on to sign with Division I or II programs, and he's still on the field every week coaching and developing the next generation of hitters and infielders.
